Diagnosis and Treatment of Cancer for the Betterment of Life

It is easier for us to deal with diseases that are easily diagnosed. This is done by identifying symptoms, making it easier to plan treatment options and plan the way forward. But when it comes to complex conditions, then it can be very tricky. One such disease in this category is cancer. It may be just a single word, but the outcome of this disease is very gruesome. The branch of medicine that deals with the treatment of cancer are known as oncology. Hospitals in India are famous for cancer treatment.  These three steps are carried out properly to ensure that the patient recovers from the disease quickly. Cancer is more than one disease altogether. In cancer, there is an abnormal growth of cells that have the potential to spread to different parts of the body. Every single cell present in the body has a regulatory system that controls cell growth, maturation, and death. Although the type of cancer can vary, they all begin when growth gets out of control. There are more than 100 different types of cancer known to human beings, and there are a million people who are either living with cancer or have had it in the past. The oncologist has to play different roles to help the patient. The role includes - 1. When the patient arrives, the doctor must explain the diagnosis and the patient's current condition. 2. Discuss treatment options and ask about the patient's preferred choice. 3. Providing quality and compassionate care second to none. 4. Management of symptoms and side effects that may occur as a result of ongoing treatment. Cancer programs in India include three different types of oncology treatments.

When it comes to medical oncology, there are different types of treatment options that a medical oncologist specializes in. These options are chemotherapy, targeted therapy, and immunotherapy. Chemotherapy is the most common, but others are used in some cases. Chemotherapy Chemotherapy is a type of cancer treatment in which one or more drugs are given that interfere with a cancer cell's ability to divide and reproduce. A single drug or a combination of drugs may be used in this treatment. Cancer cells divide faster than normal cells and chemotherapy destroys them more quickly.  It may be given before surgery or radiation therapy to shrink the size of a tumor. It may also be given after surgery to destroy any remaining cancer cells. It is the only treatment available for cancer like blood cancer, leukemia, etc. Targeted therapy This is a type of cancer treatment that uses drugs but differs from chemotherapy in that it targets specific genes and proteins. Targeted genes are found in cancer cells or in cells that are associated with cancer growth. Gene changes occur in certain types of cancer. And the drugs that are being developed target these changes. These drugs can block or turn off signals that tell cancer cells to grow or divide. They also repel cells and prevent them from living longer than normal.
